BiQ: Removing the Watch List Feature

After considering this for the past week, I've decided to remove the Watch List feature from the Biotech iQ Website. I have two reasons for this. The first is somewhat important, and the second is perhaps even more important.

  1. The first reason is time. I love biotech, and I love running Biotech iQ. However, BiQ is a passion project for me--I still have a day job that pays the bills. At Biotech iQ, my first priority is managing the Active Portfolio and ensuring the iQ Cheat Sheets remain up-to-date with the most recent information--and my best thinking. I will still maintain a private watch list to evaluate companies for eventual inclusion into BiQ Active Coverage. However, I can devote more time to the Active Portfolio if I don't have to also worry about updating members about Watch List companies. I will continue highlighting promising companies I follow via focus articles as time permits.
  2. The second reason is that I want to avoid confusion between the Active Portfolio and the Watch List. Watch List companies are high-risk, and I don't recommend investing in them unless one is an experienced biotech investor. As our community grows, I'm concerned that the confusion around the two separate lists may become an ongoing challenge.

I may consider bringing back the Watch List in the future if I can find a good solution to these two issues (being able to hire some administrative help would be a great start!) But for now, I'm removing the Watch List from the public website.

One final note: I will add Precigen (PGEN) to Active Coverage as soon as I have time to assemble the iQCS. I know a few members have a position in PGEN and can rest assured that ongoing coverage will be provided.
